The 'Wild Things' eco-festival has been a roaring success this week, and we have been delighted by all the work and photos you have sent in. The festival centred around biodiversity, and children were invited to explore three main themes: Gardens and bees, Hedgehogs, and Rainforests. They even received a virtual talk from a bee expert! Children across all year groups learned the importance of celebrating and caring for our planet's biodiversity, and took wonderful, practical steps to do this. Well done to everybody who took part. 

This Year 1 pupil has been raising her own butterflies! Starting with wiggly caterpillars, she watched them create chrysalises, then transform into beautiful butterflies! What a great idea for lockdown.

This half term we are learning survival skills in Forest School. The children in Year 2 have been building dens and even a cooking frame in their gardens!

Wow! Miss Jackson has been truly amazed by the quality of work that has been sent in for the spring flowers creative competition. It has been lovely to see everyone being so inspired by David Hockney’s work. It has been hard to choose winners as they have all been of such a high standard.  The winners are:

Seniors - Matilda (Y4) and Ione (Y5)

Erin (Y1) spent time last Saturday on 'World Penguin Day' counting penguins on behalf of scientists monitoring penguin colonies around the world.

Erin had to click on every adult, chick and egg she could see in the real time image. These numbers will be logged and added to the total, which will give scientists an idea of how many penguins inhabit different parts of the world.

Cressie (along with her Mum and brother) has been involved in a local community project making face visors for local Care givers. The group was set up by Sarah Bicknell in Churt and the family are part of a work force group off shoot in Bramshott. In total there are 65 volunteers in Haslemere, Farnham, Midhurst and Bramshott, who in the last two weeks have made 12,000 visors. They are now working towards 15,000 with the goal to make 20,000. They have had great feedback on the quality and high standard of the visor. They are being used at Frimley Park Hospital, Phyllis Tuckwell and local drs surgeries too. 

They are now also doing private orders so if you know anyone who needs them please do let the family  know. They still need more volunteers, drivers and fund raising - these cost 85p to make so even a fiver makes a huge difference! Ted and his family made a bird box and rigged it with a camera. Almost immediately, a bluetit moved in!  Ted is enjoying watching the bird make its nest and the whole family are hoping for chicks in the future!

The children of St Ives were tasked with designing the most marvellous, fantastic and magical Easter egg!  They worked really hard to decorate their eggs in the most unique way possible - everything from a burger, to captain underpants to a cowboy! It really has been amazing to watch all of these entries come in and thank you to everyone who has taken the time to make one. The winners are as follows:

Over the Easter holidays, the children were asked if they wanted to take part in an Easter baking competition.  The children sent in photos to Mrs Goldsworthy so she could judge them.  The standard was incredibly high - and the food all looked delicious.  The winners were:

Lower KS2 - Josie for her Hot Cross Bunnies baked for NHS staff at St George's
