At St Ives, we believe education should be relevant, interesting, stimulating, engaging and, above all, fun. Learning takes place everywhere, in and out of the classroom, and we seize every opportunity to nurture a genuine love of learning. With specialist subject teachers and small class sizes, our pupils are supported to thrive, grow in confidence and leave each day feeling that it truly has been their best yet.
This approach has recently been recognised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, where St Ives was awarded a ‘Significant Strength’ for the quality of our curriculum. Inspectors described our curriculum as “highly sophisticated” and “skilfully interwoven across all subjects”, providing “high-quality, innovative lessons that challenge and inspire pupils”.
They also noted that our learning experiences are “artfully aligned” and rooted in “authentic real-world application”, enabling pupils to develop responsibility for their own learning and apply their knowledge “with high levels of skill and confidence”.
Our pupils leave St Ives exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their education, with an outstanding record of securing places at their first-choice senior schools. Roughly 80% of pupils are awarded scholarships to leading independent schools including Guildford High School, Churcher’s College, St Catherine’s School, Frensham Heights and Prior’s Field School.
There is no single secret to our success. It lies in the combination of dedicated staff, small class sizes and a deep commitment to pastoral care. Wellbeing sits at the heart of everything we do, something also recognised by inspectors, who highlighted the way leaders “prioritise the wellbeing and experience of pupils” and create a “secure and happy environment” in which children flourish.
But the best way to truly understand what makes St Ives so special is to experience it for yourself. Join us at one of our Open Mornings, take part in a Forest Fun session, or arrange a personal tour – we would be delighted to welcome you.
