St Ives School is a member of United Learning. United Learning consists of 14 independent schools, which teaches over 8000 children nationwide and forms one of the largest providers of independent education in the country. United Learning consists of two charities which are responsible for the operation of the Group’s schools. United Church Schools Trust (UCST) governs the Independent Schools, and United Learning Trust (ULT) governs the Group's Academies.
All the Trustees of ULT and UCST sit together as a Group Board, to which the Trustees of both entities have delegated their powers and functions. The Chair of the Group Board is Mr Christian Brodie. The Group Board delegates management of the Group to the Chief Executive and the management team, who therefore carry out important governance and leadership roles in relation to the individual schools in the Group. ULT and UCST have delegated decision-making powers to the Group Board, but continue to exist as separate charities and to meet as appropriate. Dr Rosalind Given-Wilson chairs UCST and Dame Reena Keeble chairs ULT.
The governance of St Ives is therefore undertaken through the United Learning structure. The formal governing body of St Ives School is the Board of United Church Schools Trust. This Board carries statutory responsibility for the educational and care provision at St Ives, and oversees its budget and financial management.
Dr Rosalind Given-Wilson is the Chair of United Church Schools Trust.
