Extra-Curricular Activities and Clubs

All our extra-curricular activities are running whilst pupils are at home.

Junior and Senior Choir

Mrs McGuiness is sending out a weekly Sway recording of the songs pupils are to learn and practise, until we can be together again and celebrate with the best concert ever!

Speech & Drama

This is being delivered with Katie Nichols online

Individual Music Lessons

These are being delivered by pupils’ usual teacher via Skype

Virtual Explorers Club

Virtual Explorers (Mrs Duggin) – An exciting opportunity to explore the world, even during lockdown! From Buckingham Palace to the Great Wall of China, Disney World to the Great Pyramid, places all over the world can be explored virtually thanks to technological wizardry on the internet. You will be introduced to three or four locations each week via a pre-recorded video from Mrs Duggin. You’ll then explore the sites independently and keep a record of your adventures in your very own travel journal. I can’t wait to see what you discover!

Green Dragons Club

Mrs Butterfield will be bringing you a combination of gardening, a bit of exploring habitats and a bit of eco too.  She is recording video input explaining the focus for the week and showing an example of a practical activity. She is also including one or two follow up activities that children can do if they would like. There will be a supporting Power Point presentation including a few more details and tips to help with the activities.

Yoga Club

Miss Tapp will be providing a weekly video introducing children to the many benefits of  Yoga  in a simple and inclusive way. Each session aims to support children in improving their posture, flexibility, strength, balance and coordination in a relaxed and non-judgmental format.  Yoga  can also help to increase awareness of the breath and focus the mind and body, which is important in this sometimes busy and chaotic world.

Sports Club

Mrs Woodward will be sending home a fun challenge each week and results can be sent back to Mrs Woodward. Some challenges will test physical skills, others will test sports knowledge. The challenges will not take long and anybody can take part. You can choose whether to participate each week, depending on how much time you have.  Results should be sent to Mrs Woodward by the end of school on Wednesday. Enjoy!

Julia Bowker, our resident tennis coach, is providing the children with regular tennis activities that they can do from home. These are for fun and will also help improve the children’s game, ready for when school and tennis courts are back open!

Whilst the school was closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we worked hard to ensure that all pupils continued to experience an enriching and fulfilling St Ives curriculum.  This aimed to continue pupils’ progress, consolidate their prior learning and help them remain healthy, both physically and mentally. It was also extremely important to us that our pupils and parents continued to feel a part of the St Ives community so that we could stay “Together Whilst Apart”.

The school is part of United Learning. United Learning comprises: UCST (Registered in England No: 2780748. Charity No. 1016538) and ULT (Registered in England No. 4439859. An Exempt Charity). Companies limited by guarantee. VAT number 834 8515 12.
