We have been shortlisted for the TES Independent School Awards!

We are so excited to announce that we have been shortlisted to be Pre-Prep / Prep School of the Year in the prestigious Times Educational Supplement (TES) Independent School Awards 2018*. This is such a tremendous achievement as we are one of only 8 schools to be shortlisted, beating competition from some of the finest and most respected of the country’s 620 independent prep schools.

The nomination recognises the success of St Ives, not only for its academic achievements, but for its innovation, imagination and efforts to develop children in ways that go beyond the league tables. We are so proud of the high academic standards we set here, but we have always recognised that this represents only part of developing the whole child. The breadth of the wider experiences offered at St Ives allows all our children to develop as individuals, begin a general life-long love of learning and naturally achieve and progress. To have this recognised by the TES is quite something!

Ann Mroz, the Editor of the TES has said “Independent education in this country is world class. It’s one of Britain’s great success stories. And those shortlisted for the TES Independent School Awards are the cream of the crop. This year we had more entries than ever, the standard was the best yet and the competition fiercer than ever before. To be shortlisted is an extraordinary achievement.”

Our Chair of Governors, Graham Harvey-Browne, has also said of the news “We are delighted and very proud to hear this wonderful news. This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of Mrs Goldsworthy, Miss Smith and all of the teaching and support staff at St Ives and is a clear indicator of the continued success of the school in producing well rounded young people who are inspired and supported in achieving their potential.”

The overall winner will be announced on 8th February 2018, but in the meantime we want to thank all our staff and pupils for their dedication and commitment to approaching school life with enthusiasm, innovation and imagination – they are the reason that we have become the successful, thriving school we are today!

* The TES is the weekly publication aimed at school teachers in the UK which focuses on school-related news and features. Their annual awards “celebrate those making remarkable strategic contributions to independent schools…. They provide benchmarks for the sector as a whole and networking opportunities for schools to learn from each other. All shortlisted schools can demonstrate value for money to their parents”.
