St Ives pupils are going places...

My daughter knows the teachers in the school and they know her, it is friendly, warm and really knows it's stuff when it comes to child development.

Really nice nurturing environment, in lovely setting. Most important is how much my daughter loves it there - so much so she often doesn't want to come home!

My son, like all boys needs to get outside and be physical and the outdoor space at St Ives is an adventure park with lots of space to run and wonderful views, for him to run around in.

I try to savour my days at St Ives as they are best school days I will ever have.

St Ives is a really exciting place to be, with so many fun activities and extra-curricular clubs so you’re never left out.

If I had to sum up St Ives in one word it would be AMAZING!

St Ives is caring and supportive, we are like a big family.

St Ives may look small but actually it is exploding with education excitement and fun, all of the teachers are inspiring in each and every lesson.

St Ives is a school which is full of opportunities to achieve great things.

The Arts

The Arts are considered to be an integral part of life at St Ives and we know that no truly broad education foundation can be created without them. We strongly believe in the value of the arts in teaching children to think creatively, to acknowledge and question the world around them and to help them make sense of it too.

Art, music and drama are taught by specialist teachers and embraced by the pupils from Reception upwards. Children benefit from weekly class music and drama lessons as well as many choirs. We have a host of peripatetic teachers across a range of instruments which is available to all children throughout the week.

Ballet lessons take place on a Tuesday afternoon from 2.30pm -6pm. Children as young as Nursery have the opportunity to take part in the classes.

Our pupils’ visual work is displayed in every corridor and on every wall throughout the School, while their talent in music and drama can be enjoyed regularly in concerts and performances that they work hard to perfect. Recent school productions have included Bugsy Malone, The Wizard of Oz, Oliver, The Sound of Music and Joseph.

We encourage all our pupils to develop their self-expression and creativity through the Arts, giving them outlet for their feelings and a means to develop their sense of self and their perception of the world around them.

We have a lively music department here at St Ives and all our children are taught by a specialist music teacher. We have a flourishing school orchestra, three choirs – Junior Choir (years 1 and 2), Senior Choir (years 3 – 6) and Chamber Choir (years 5 and 6 by audition).

The children have the opportunity to learn a wide range of instruments in school with our excellent team of peripatetic teachers including piano, violin, flute, clarinet and singing. There are performing opportunties for the children all year round, in the Harvest Festival, Carol Service, nativities, Spring Concert, assemblies and in class music lessons.

In the summer term the senior girls perform in a musical production which is a fantastic experience that stays with them forever.
