    • Year 6 Life Skills Week

Year 6 girls have been busy enjoying a hectic schedule during ‘Life Skills’ week,  an annual event which is ever popular and a great way or the girls to take time away from their regular school timetable and relax a little after the pressures of common entrance exams.  The year activities included lessons on food hygiene, internet protection, sewing, business enterprise, vegetable gardening and orienteering.  The girls were alsoasked to organise and host a lunch for local dignitaries including The Mayor of Haslemere, past governors, parents and teachers of the school as well as other local community members.  Preparations included menu planning and budgeting.  Although accompanied by staff or parents, the girls also had to organise, plan and use public transport independently to get to and from the shops to purchase provisions for the lunch. Once back at school the girls prepared and served the lunch which was a huge success.  To finish the week Year 6 held a Bric & Brac sale at Haslewey Community Centre to raise funds for Haslemere Hospital and Haslemere Museum.
