Drama
Drama provides training in the very practical aspects of communication so necessary in today's increasingly information-centred world. Girls who have participated in dramatic activities;
· will be more persuasive in their communications
· will be better able to empathise
· will have a more positive, confident self image
Our class drama lessons seek to give a platform for self expression, creativity and working as part of a collaborative group. Performance is a key aspect of drama and there are many opportunities, through assemblies, house drama, junior and senior productions as well as the annual school production for girls to take part, to be part of a team.
Drama at St Ives is designed to give as many girls as possible the opportunity to participate and develop skills in the performing arts, whether on stage or helping behind the scenes. We believe that involvement in drama can help girls to express themselves and thus build their confidence.
Speech and Drama lessons are also offered as an extra-curricular activity and are attended and enjoyed with great enthusiasm by many of the girls.
Drama scholarships are often awarded by senior schools to St Ives girls.
